Brief Summary:

We require a Flex component containing a slider element (the horizontal line).  HSlider in Flex has some of the required structure and general behaviour we need. You should subclass the slider by taking a demonstration of a standard slider and creating a new slider component that can replace the standard one with the visual behaviour we require.

The result will be a composite component containing the enhanced slider and some other components. The component will be a sub-class of whatever container type you think best, perhaps Canvas.

We need to add one floating button, two fixed buttons and a small square box to the slider control. The floating button can be dragged either onto the slider line or onto the box. There is text at either end of the line taken from a sequence of pairs of text. Either of the fixed buttons can be pressed. Their purpose is to navigate through the list; when that occurs the text changes and the value of the floating button’s position is reported in a custom Event. No design work is needed at this stage.

The requirements are explained in the attachment and give a web site where you can download source code to get started. Please use this as a starting template.

This is suitable for Flex developers who have the necessary tools for compiling and building Flex applications. It would be helpful if you could show examples of Flex work you have done.
