Brief Summary:

Hi,

I want to create a meta search engine on real estate listings. I am already in talks with InOut Scripts and plan to use their search engine - http://www.inoutscripts.com/products/inout_search_engine/

There are a few more features that I want to implement like:
  1. Clustering of results
  2. Sorting of results
  3. Removing bad data

Let me know if this can be done and details will follow

Thanks

Requirements Interview Answers:
To help you bid more accurately, the buyer was interviewed about the requirements for this bid request. Below are their answers. Untitled Page
Bid request Type: What kind of work do you need done?
Software related (Includes desktop applications and internet websites)
Bid request Parts: What do you want the worker to do on this bid request?
Requirements: The worker will analyze the problem and propose a software-based solution to the problem.
Programming: The worker will take the requirements and translate them into the language of the computer (and test it).
User installation: The installer will move the software from the place it was created (which is called the development or QC environment) to where you will use it (which is called the production environment). The installer then tests the software to make sure that the installation was done properly and completely.
Req. Doc. Type: What kind of documentation do you want for this bid request?
Formal documentation - After talking back and forth, the worker creates a formal document and/or prototype, as follows:
  • Prototype: The analyst will create a non-working mockup of all pages/screens in the final software. Creating a prototype makes it easier for the user to visualize the final software, and reduces misunderstandings.
  • Requirements Document: The analyst will create a document describing everything the final software will do (other than what is documented in the prototype...if the buyer required one).
Program Type: What kind of software should the worker create (and/or install)?
  • An internet web-site: This software runs on a web server and users will access it using their internet browser.
Internet web-site info
Design and functionality: What does the programming of this bid request involve?
  • Program Functionality: Making the website "work".
Modeling another site: Do you wish to model another site? Yes: Here are some examples: http://www.allplus.com/ The most impressive part of this site is the way they cluster (group together/create buckets) for their results. I would want something like this on my search engine. http://www.boomi.in/ - search for gurgaon The clusters/groups created here are precisely what I am looking for.
Size of website: How many pages need to be created/edited in this website?
I don't know.
Other info:It is a meta search engine, so all the pages are dynamically created. There are no fixed number of pages.
Programming Language: What programming language(s) do you want your website written in?
I don't know what language (and need the worker's assistance to suggest it).
Other info:InOut Scripts use PhP and MySQL, so I think something similar is required. Feel free to suggest if something instead of inout scripts should be used. Here are some more details from inout: In the search engine we are using yahoo api as I already said. We are getting xml data from the yahoo api. If you check the yahoo boss section you can see the xml data. A sample is given below. --------------------------------------------------- - The terms foobar, foo, bar, and baz are common placeholder names (also referred to as ... Foobar is often used alone; foo, bar, and baz are usually used in ... - http://lrd.yahooapis.com/_ylc=X3oDMTVndDk0MWR0BF9TAzIwMjMxNTI3MDIEYXBwaWQDSjBoa0VZclYzNEd4MW5tZS5GYVNzV0VsM3hnRGZwVnJXVGlKd1o5YnhSRTFDajBqU2s5aFU4ZTRlZ1plNzg3M0EzMTRpMWstBGNsaWVudANib3NzBHNlcnZpY2UDQk9TUwRzbGsDdGl0bGUEc3JjcHZpZANfREh3eG1LSWNycEExenpja2RqYWJfejhPMktJbTB2WlNPMEFCMVhr/SIG=1184dhf4d/**http%3A//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foobar 2010/04/24 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foobar 37734 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foobar ---------------------------------- This is a result we are getting from yahoo boss api. We can use this result for any modification. We cannot add anything in this result. We can sort it based on websites.
Database: Will this bid request include a database?
I'm not sure (and need the worker to advise me).
Other info:I think it is MySQL that we have to use. Not sure. Suggestions are most welcome.
Browser Type(s)/Version(s): Which browser/version combinations must this website support?
  • IE 7.0
  • Firefox 3.0
Server Hosting Environment: What is your server hosting environment?
I don't know and need the worker to suggest a 3rd party hosting company server.
Details:Please suggest
Server Hosting Environment: Will the worker develop "live" on your server?
No. The worker is responsible for creating their own development and/or qc environment.
Physical installation: Who will perform the physical installation?
The worker will perform the physical installation, and will be given all necessary permissions to do so.
Legal: 1) I require complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done (so that I may modify it in the future).
2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):
2a) Any website server-side deliverables must be installed by the Worker in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.
2b) All other software (including but not limited to any desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute) must include a software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request (unless specified elsewhere by the Buyer).
3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased.
3b) No part of the deliverable may contain any copyright restricted 3rd party components (including GPL, GNU, Copyleft, etc.) unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the worker's Worker Legal Agreement.
Other Requirements:
Hi,

I want to create a meta search engine on real estate listings. I am already in talks with InOut Scripts and plan to use their search engine - http://www.inoutscripts.com/products/inout_search_engine/

There are a few issues that I want to resolve before i go ahead:

1. I want to create clusters/buckets based on my the results that are retrieved - you can see an example on www.boomi.in , search for 'gurgaon' and see the clusters created on the left hand side under Filter Search Results. Another example is http://www.allplus.com, see how the results are categorized in the left pane.

2. Sort the results as per our wish. Once we add 50 different sites to the engine, we still need control on how the results are displayed. I would like to have a full control over the results page and show results from different sites as per our logic. Basically I want to mix the results on the first few pages so that the user does not feel that results are drawn just from a single site and eventually goes there and search :)

3. While working with the demo version of inout search engine (available on their site - http://www.inoutscripts.com/products/inout_search_engine/), I encountered some broken links on the results page. I understand that this is more of a problem with the sites that were added, but is there a way that we remove such broken links automatically. When I go to the souce sites, and search with the same criteria, I do not get those broken links at all.

Thanks
  • All deliverables must be uploaded to Rent A Coder before the deadline(s) for this bid request...with no exceptions. If this contract makes it impossible for a competent person to do this, then do not start this bid request...but instead alert Rent A Coder of an un-arbitratable, illegal bid request.
  • Remember that contacting the other party outside of the site (by email, phone, etc.) on all business bid requests <$500 (before the buyer's money is escrowed) is a violation of both the software buyer and worker agreements. Rent A Coder monitors all site activity for such violations and can instantly expel transgressors on the spot, so we thank you in advance for your cooperation. If you notice a violation please help out the site and report it. Thanks for your help.

Expert Guarantee Required:

It is crucial to the buyer that this entire bid request be completed (100%) by the deadline of days. They only want expert workers who will commit themselves to this deadline to bid. If you are not an expert or unable to commit completely to the deadline, then DO NOT BID on this bid request.

If you are an expert and can commit, the buyer would like you to demonstrate this by making an
Expert Guarantee of at least 10% of your bid. (This would not need to be made now...but only if and when you are are selected as the winning bidder). If you complete the job (100% by the deadline), then your deposit would be refunded to you. If you do not, then you would forfeit the deposit and it would go to cover the buyer's cancellation charge and the remainder donated to a non-profit charity.

Please note that depending on how you choose to make the deposit, there may be a small, non-refundable processing fee. This fee can be reduced or eliminated by choosing a less expensive method of payment. Or, you may wish to ask the buyer to cover the cost of the fee for you. You can do this in a number of ways such as: increasing the price of your bid, asking the buyer to post a 2nd bid request to cover it (contingent on completion of the bid request), or by getting the buyer to promise to pay the fee to you as a bonus (upon completion of the bid request). If you choose the bonus route, just remember that due to credit card/PayPal rules, Rent A Coder CANNOT force a buyer to pay a bonus involuntarily...even when promised on-site. So don't choose this option, unless you trust the buyer, or are willing to take a small risk.

This is just a very brief overview of how the Expert Guarantee works and there are many more details that you need to understand fully before you bid on this bid request. DO NOT BID on this bid request until you've read and fully understand everything about the Expert Guarantee (including reading the contract and the FAQs).
